What it is

Individual strokes. Completely natural.

Nano brows use a digital PMU machine with an ultra-fine nano needle to deposit pigment in precise, hair-like strokes. The result is a brow that blends seamlessly with your existing hair — no airbrushed look, no obvious makeup.

Unlike traditional microblading, the nano needle technique works on all skin types — including oily and combination skin — and lasts significantly longer. It's the most natural-looking brow result available.

Who is a good candidate?

Nano brows are ideal for anyone who wants a natural, hair-stroke brow effect — whether you have sparse brows, uneven growth, or simply want to wake up without filling them in daily. The technique works on all skin types, including oily, combination, and mature skin.

Shaded & Bladed artist Candra, a Licensed Medical Micropigmentologist and PhiBrows Certified Artist, assesses your skin, brow structure, and goals at your free consultation before recommending any technique.

Contraindications to review before booking:

  • Pregnancy or nursing
  • Current use of blood thinners (aspirin, Accutane, Warfarin)
  • Active skin conditions on the brow area (eczema, psoriasis, rosacea)
  • History of keloid scarring
  • Recent chemical peels, Botox, or fillers in the brow area

We review contraindications at your free consultation. When in doubt, we recommend a physician clearance first.

Step by step

Here's exactly what happens from your first visit through your touch-up.

01

Design phase

Before any pigment touches your skin, we map your brow shape using your natural bone structure as a guide. We discuss arch height, thickness, and tail length — and only proceed when you approve the design.

02

Color selection

We custom-blend your pigment color against your skin tone, hair color, and any existing brow hair. The goal is a color you can't detect from natural hair.

03

Numbing

Topical anesthetic is applied and left on for 20–30 minutes before the procedure begins. Most clients find nano brows very comfortable once numb.

04

Procedure

Using a digital PMU machine with an ultra-fine nano needle, your artist deposits pigment in precise, hair-like strokes. The process takes 60–90 minutes for the brow area.

05

Healing

Days 1–3: brows appear bold and dark. Days 4–7: some flaking is normal — do not pick. By day 14, color softens by 30–40%. Full healing: 4–6 weeks.

06

Touch-up

At 6–8 weeks, we refine shape, fill any spots where pigment didn't retain, and adjust color if needed. This session is essential for the best result.

Nano brows vs. traditional microblading

Nano brows and traditional microblading both create hair-stroke brows, but the technique and results are meaningfully different. Here's how they compare. Compare: Nano Brows vs. Powder Brows

We exclusively offer nano brows — not traditional microblading. Here's why: the digital machine gives the artist more control, creates less trauma to the skin, and delivers results that hold on all skin types rather than only dry or normal skin.

What's included

Natural hair-stroke look

Each stroke is placed individually with an ultra-fine nano needle, mimicking the direction and density of real brow hair.

2–2.5 hour sessions

Your initial session includes consultation, design, numbing, and the full procedure. Plan for 2–2.5 hours.

6–8 week touch-up

A touch-up at 6–8 weeks refines the result once your skin has fully healed. This is where we perfect shape and fill any areas where pigment didn't retain.

Topical numbing

We apply numbing cream before we begin. Most clients feel minimal discomfort — a light sensation at most.

Lasts 2–3 years

Nano brows last longer than traditional microblading — typically 2–3 years. Annual color boosts keep them sharp.

Works on all skin types

Unlike manual microblading, nano brows hold well on oily, combination, and mature skin types.

Frequently asked questions

How long do nano brows last?+

Nano brows at Shaded & Bladed typically last 2–3 years depending on your skin type, sun exposure, and skincare routine. Oily skin and heavy sun exposure may cause faster fading. Annual color boosts keep the result looking sharp. Oklahoma summers — with high UV from May through September — make SPF aftercare important.

Does getting nano brows hurt?+

Most clients describe nano brows as very comfortable once numbing cream is applied. You may feel a light scratching or vibration sensation during the procedure, but not sharp pain. Numbing is applied for 20–30 minutes before the artist begins any work. Sensitivity varies slightly by individual.

How is nano brows different from traditional microblading?+

Nano brows use a digital PMU machine with an ultra-fine needle to create hair strokes, while traditional microblading uses a manual blade that cuts the skin. Nano brows work on all skin types — including oily and mature — and typically last 2–3 years versus 1–2 years for microblading.

What is the healing process like for nano brows?+

Days 1–3, brows appear bolder and darker than the final result. Days 4–7, light flaking is normal — do not pick. By day 14, color softens significantly. Full healing takes 4–6 weeks. Your 6–8 week touch-up appointment perfects shape and fills any areas where pigment didn't retain.

Individual results vary. Consult your artist for a personalized assessment. See our full FAQ for more answers.
